lorelei42: five glowing luminarias (Yule luminarias)
AO3 Name: Lorelei

Hello, fabulous Yule Writer! I am so pleased that we share a fandom. As I say every year, the thing I love most about Yuletide stories is spending time in these worlds and with these characters and anything you write will have that. If you're looking for info on my tastes or for story ideas, you'll find them below, but feel free to interpret these broadly or ignore them entirely and follow your own inspirations. I truly do buy into ODAO.

Open to treats? Yes, please!

Chef RPF
Characters Requested: Julia Child

I received a lovely Julia fic in a prior Yuletide and I am back for moar! I adore Julia’s no nonsense attitude and her zest for life. She’s such a larger than life character. “Over the top” seems to be her default mode. Another thing that attracts me here is that there are so many different ways that a Julia Child fic could go and I am interested in all of them.

If you are here for the food – me too! I would happily read loving detail of Julia cooking just about anything you like. Julia’s trials and tribulations as she learned to cook in Paris are also relevant to my interests. What is Julia thinking as she cooks? How does she experience the smells and tastes and sounds of the cooking? What memories does a particular recipe evoke?

If you are here for the larger-than-life personality – me too! Julia hosts a dinner party anytime from 1950 to 2000 – who’s there and what are they eating? Five times Julia mowed down everyone in her path and one time she was surprisingly sensitive. Julia’s adventures at the White House in any era from Kennedy to Clinton.

If you are here for Julia Child former OSS agent – me too! I would love any tales about Julia Child, superspy! I am happy for loving historical WWII detail or for crackfic of her and Christopher Lee as amazingly badass spies on a crazy mission.

If you are here for romance – me too! I love Julia’s relationship with her husband, Paul, and would enjoy any story about their getting to know each other during WWII or their time in Paris or them growing old together. I am particularly fond of Paul's photos of Julia (some of which can be seen here: https://www.bonappetit.com/story/julia-child-never-before ).

Moo Baa La La La! - Sandra Boynton
Characters Requested: Any

I nominated this for Yuletide because it seemed to me like a perfect blank slate for creativity and humor. This is your license to go wild! Some ideas below but feel free to ignore these if you have other inspirations.

In canon we have only the dialogue. What is the story that surrounds this dialogue? Why does the cow say "Moo"? Why do the three pigs say "La La La"? Feel free to either keep to the text as written or add additional dialogue as needed.

We do not see the various animals together in canon. Are these all separate vignettes or are they part of one event? If they are separate, what connects them? If they are together, what is the occasion?

Why do the pigs sing? Barbershop not-quite-quartet? Practicing for the talent show? Are the other animals auditioning for a part in this?

What is up with the dogs? Do the two groups of dogs get along? Are they speaking different dog languages or are they saying different things in the same dog language?

"Moo" - is this a happy moo? A contented moo? An alarmed moo? An absent-minded moo? Is this a taciturn cow who has not moo-ed in 20 years? If so, what has finally broken her decades long silence? Is this a constantly-mooing barnyard gossip of a cow? What does she have to say about the other characters? Is this a questioning moo? Is the cow a detective who is interrogating the other characters?

Who is the "you" that is being questioned at the end? And what do they say?

The Goes Wrong Show
Characters Requested: Any

I adore the zany humor of this show. Any canon-typical shenanigans or tales of how things Go Wrong this time would make me very happy. I also enjoy the glimpses we get into the behind-the-scenes lives of the characters.

It might be fun to see what is going on backstage during any of the episodes. Are there whispered conversations about how to fix things? People scurrying around trying to find a prop or a costume? Even more wrongs that are narrowly prevented?

The gentlemen tend to get more of the stage time, so what happens if they are doing a heavily female-focused play? I would be interested in the typical Goes Wrong fail-fest starring the female cast members, in Robert and/or Chris trying to steal the show despite having teeny tiny parts, or in how they manage to justify doing the entire show in drag so that the men still have the majority of the screen time.

If this is what the final shows look like, what happened in the rehearsals? How much worse was it when they hadn't practiced? What bizarre misunderstandings did Dennis have at the read-through? Was there arguing over who got which part? How did they try to upstage each other during the initial blocking? Which costume ideas were proposed and rejected? Or is it all actually perfect in rehearsal and they just somehow fall completely apart when there is an audience? Progressively more fail the bigger the audience?

Five times a character of your choice messed up in hilarious ways and one time that went surprisingly right? Or maybe the center is a scene rather than a character? Five times a particular scene was messed up in a hilariously new way and the one time it went surprisingly right?
