Greetings, Yule Writer! I am so pleased that we share a fandom. As I say every year, the thing I love most about Yuletide stories is spending time in these worlds and with these characters and anything you write will have that. If you're looking for info on my tastes or for story ideas, you'll find them below, but feel free to interpret these broadly or ignore them entirely and follow your own plot bunnies.
General likes and dislikes

humor, witty banter, wry commentary, farce, crack!fic

five times fic
epistolary fic
lavish lifestyles
wining, dining, and dancing
adventure
Do Not Want:
major character death
rape
unresolved angst
love that is still unrequited at the end of the story
explicit horror, violence, or gore
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension (1984)
Buckaroo Banzai
Cowboys, aliens, samurai, and scientists all in one place! I love that this canon is so weird, wild, and over the top that it’s practically crack!fic to start with. I love that Buckaroo and the crew are amazingly badass at so many different things. I love the little asides and references to intriguing untold stories. I love that there’s swagger and machismo and teasing as well as tenderness and care for each other. Anything that taps into the wild and wacky feel of canon will be perfect.
Tell me a story of adventure! What new menace is threatening the world and how do Buckaroo and the gang defeat it?
Do you remember the watermelon? Tell me a story about the watermelon! You can riff off of the ‘official’ explanation (found here: http://www.banzai-institute.com/0901FAQ.html ) or just ignore that and go wild, whichever you prefer.
Buckaroo’s diary?
Five times Buckaroo talked his way out of a jam and one time where talking failed and he had to kiss his way out?
France is a Feast by Alex Prud'homme & Katie Pratt
Julia Child, Paul Child
I love getting to see a more private side of Julia. I love the period details. I love Paul's artistic side. I love the foodie references. I love seeing things from Paul's point of view. I love seeing Julia with her even taller sister. I love how in love Paul and Julia were. This book is totally worth getting, but the essence can be gleaned from this Bon Appetit article: https://www.bonappetit.com/story/julia-child-never-before . Julia Child reclining on rooftops! Paul and Julia enjoying a picnic! Julia's tiny Parisian kitchen.
Tell me the story behind any picture in this book that has Paul or Julia in it.
The photo of Julia on the phone that shows just her legs – who is on the other end of the line? What has Julia been up to that has tired her out to the point where she is reclining and propping her feet up?
The photo of Julia in a tube top and Paul shirtless on a rooftop – what’s the occasion? And what yummies are they eating there? Why is Julia smiling?
Any photo of food or cooking – what’s on the menu? Is this for a romantic dinner for two, a picnic, a party?
Any photo of Paris – what new places have Julia and Paul been discovering?
Any photo of Julia - what does Paul love about this photo? Why did he choose to capture this particular scene?
In the Stacks – Scott Lynch
Any
I love the humor in this story. I love the idea of the living library, and battle librarians, and the strange creatures, particularly the bibliovores. I also love that they basically have an “anti-dark lord” safeguard. Why doesn’t Hogwarts do something like this? I want to know more about this world and about the university.
If that was the fifth year exam, what’s the seventh year exam?
Other times Lazlo’s freezing spell came in handy?
Yvette is portrayed as reasonably powerful; I’d love to see her kicking magical ass.
Lev lives up to his name? Magical university puns and pranks?
Alternate ending in which Casimir’s plan succeeds?
Do any of the characters end up as librarians when they graduate? Further adventures in the library?
Ocean’s 8
Debbie Ocean
I love heist movies with clever schemes and how all the details fall into place at the end, tying together things we didn’t realize mattered but are actually important to the plan. I like the banter and camaraderie between the team, the opulent wardrobes, the fancy dinners.
Debbie doesn’t need the money anymore, post-movie, but I’ll bet that she can’t give up pulling jobs. It’s what she does. Tell me about a new caper?
Banter and camaraderie are great – give me ladies night with Debbie and your choice of any of the other gals?
Five times Debbie’s schemes involved decadence and luxury and one time that was grimy and gritty but totally worth it?
If you want to cross the streams and pull in characters from the other Ocean’s movies, that’s cool. The time that Danny & Debbie unexpectedly ran into each other mid-job that resulted in them agreeing to always let each other know what they’re up to in the future?
