Not doing very well on using this journal more. Possibly this is due to having a baby young enough that her age can still be counted in weeks?
I was very pleased by my Yuletide assignment. The fandom I matched on was the one I most wanted to try writing. But it's been a challenge. Part of that is the baby. But part is that I generally write broad humor, farce, slapstick and this assignment calls for something more understated. I worked on two story ideas, one prompted by my giftee and one that snuck up and bit me while I was brainstorming. I've finished the one that matches the prompt, so now I just need to break through the wall of 502s at AO3 and upload it. I'm considering trying to finish the other story as a treat, but we'll see.
I think the finished story is good, but it's hard to tell. I don't have a fandom-specific beta so I'm doubting whether I've got the tone and voice right. Here's hoping my recipient likes it!
